Re: Air BnB
He has joined them. The apt above me has been Abnb for ages. It's meant to be no more than 75 days a year.

It's everyday of the year.

My place is pretty nice though.

Re: Air BnB
Oh! Well in that case, be glad you have a decent landlord that hasn't joined them!

Must be nice where you live then?

sanfrancis-co-uk 11:58 Fri Nov 27
Re: Air BnB
It's also illegal to Air bnb someone elses property.

Re: Air BnB
It's a good idea,as long as everybody plays by the rules.

Thee landlords clearly are not.

Re: Air BnB
How about the health and safety of long term residents?

I've been in my apt for 16 years and now have a constant stream of strangers hanging around our roof deck and back doors thinking everyday's a party?

I have to work early in the mornings.Of course these people don't care,it's one big holiday to them.

Air bnb says'live like the locals, eat where the locals eat, drink where the locals drink'except, these people are driving out'The Locals'due to taking up all the available housing that has for years, been for'The Locals'.

I know it's not the people who are renting fault,it's the unscrupulous landlords who are forcing long term tenants out to make a quick buck, while not declaring their units as Air bnb(90%)for tax reasons, and flaunting all kinds of health and safety rules and regs,

Re: Air BnB
Use it quite often and never a problem. Much prefer a decent apartment to a hotel. Saved a lot of money and had a better travel experience particularly with the kids. Some areas (NY an obvious example) will have a lot of scams but they're easy to spot, just stick to only dealing through the site itself.

Regarding safety I would imagine this is a pretty miniscule percentage and as much as anything else will reflect the generic health and safety environment of wherever you're going, rather than Air BnB properties.

Re: Air BnB
I have mate and it's brilliant. A good way to get cheap place to stay. I have done it three times and once was not the best because it was in France and the place wasn't as advertised. The other two were brilliant look for the one's that are an entire place.

This is why I hate Air BnB.

"If you stayed in a hotel and fell down the stairs because of a loose bit of carpet for example and broke your leg you would want some compensation wouldn't you?"

Normally not, no.

In fact, I don't believe it would ever happen to me as I am posessed of all 5 senses and could probably see a loose carpet or at least feel it as I stepped on it.

99% of all personal injury claims (like statistics) are just made up bollocks that was the fault of the claimant not taking proper care.

Re: Air BnB
You'd have to be easily frightened if you wouldn't stay in someone's house because you might injure yourself.

99% I'm sure are fine, you don't want to be the 1% of course and suing someone in their own country is both difficult and expensive, we've done it.

When I worked for Splash, in Ibiza we had half a dozen claims on our liability insurance a season on average because of serious injury or death and not one was actually the companies fault.

Mr Polite 4:53 Fri Nov 27
Re: Air BnB
My travel insurance would help with immediate expenses in that situation Cough
